Why are "In Memory" stickers so prominent in the south. I see them so often, I've lived in a lot of different places and they were never that prominent as here.

well, i can tell you that i lived in maryland until i was 21 and very rarely saw them. then i moved to alabama and and for the past 4 years i've lived in roanoke which is very small. they really are everywhere. the only reason i can think they're so popular is because families are much much closer down here. relationships between friends are also much closer. if you're friends, you're family down here. there are always birthday wishes, holiday wishes, meaningful poems, and letters to the deceased in our local newspaper and most of the time the people have been dead for many years. it's just a totally different life style down here and people value family and friends over anything else.

Having grown up more in the north and then moving south. I've noticed big differences when I visit like the cashier not talking to you about their life story. When you pass people not waving or saying hello. I used to not like it because I had things to do and didn't have time to talk but now i've gotten used to it and I don't mind. I don't like stickers on my car so I very much doubt i would put a "in memory" on my car.

I dont like stickers either so I wont have one on my truck either. But I do think it has a lot to do with in the South--families are usually really close.
God Determines who walks into your life. It's up to you to decide who you let stay, who you let walk away, and who you refuse to let go.
